Postdoc in Characterisation of Steel

The Materials Research Division at Risø DTU, Technical University of Denmark, is seeking candidates for a postdoctoral position in the field of defect characterisation in steel.
 
Job description
The position is part of a research project funded by the Danish Council for Strategic Research aiming at increasing the fundamental knowledge of steel used in gears and bearings in wind turbines. The position involves the following tasks:

  • Microstructural characterisation of different types of steel including identification of carbides.
  • Advanced fracture mechanical testing: CTOD, JIC or similar tests.
  • Classification of defects, damage growth and damage evolution.   


Qualifications
The applicant is required to have a PhD degree in materials science, applied mechanics, mechanical engineering or equivalent. We expect that you have experience in microstructural characterisation using SEM and TEM and that you have experience with damage mechanics and are good in both written and oral English. Experience with FEM modelling will be advantageous.
 
Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union. The period of employment is limited to 2 years.

The place of work will be Risø DTU in Roskilde.
